Protecting the soil below from compaction by spreading the weight of the person standing on the surface. This allows us to dig areas more freely and effectively have paths we can pick up, move and store in smaller spaces. This ultimately means we can use more of the space, and means that permanent undug areas which can be infested with perennial weeds are not needed.
