I placed the tap on the side as low down as possible. The tap on version 1 sticks up about 15mm on the inside so the liquid in the base of the trough will need to be greater than this depth to be drained off. Unfortunatelty when I drilled the hole for this tap I placed it too close to the bottom, and could not do the nut up. I managed to trim the nut enough that I could position it correctly, but the seal on the tap is now faulty and it will leak: leasson learned - the hole for the tap must be 10 - 15mm higher opn the side.
