After dealing with surprisingly few trick or treaters I had time to examine my petri dishes. I am pretty sure one of the Dactylorhiza praetermissa plates had a tiny protocorm which is potentially good news. A closer examination of the previously sown Dactylorhiza fuchsii showed there were one or two which had survived. Interestingly the original plate which I'd effectively thinned by taking out most of the larger corms seems to have the best survival rate, which lends support to the idea that it is the inoculated fungi in the new vessels causing the dieback. Anyway I will try to replant the survivors sometime this week. And since al the perpetuated plates and flasks I already have are now no longer any use for transplanting I will sow the rest of the seeds I have at the same time.
