Hot off the press! The second attempt at growing orchids got underway today, appropriately enough on Nicole's birthday. The orchids I ordered a few weeks ago from Hardy Orchids turned up at work prompting me to leave early to ensure they were planted as soon as possible. My earlier shotgun approach with a large number of small bulbs withered to an early death so this time I have selected just three individual plants:
- Anacamptis morio (Green winged orchid): in the wet meadow
- Ophrys apifera (Bee orchid): in the dry meadow
- Epipactis palustris (Marshe helleborine): in the pond margin
Pictures to be posted soon in a seperate photo album.
Fingers crossed till spring!
